Participating in the Great Oregon ShakeOut

Westlake will participate in the Great Oregon ShakeOut for the second year in a row on Thursday, October 15th.

The Great ShakeOut, an international event, encourages businesses, organizations, schools and communities to review and update their emergency preparedness plans and supplies on an annual basis. This year, over 27.5 million participants worldwide have signed up online to participate. The number includes over 270,000 in the state of Oregon and 76,000 people in Washington County alone.

At Westlake, we are committed to contributing to a resilient built environment for our communities. We will be sharing resources, encouraging staff to make a plan, and offering ideas on how to build an emergency go bag. We will mark the occasion at 10:15am on October 15th.

This year’s coronavirus, windstorms, and wildfires reaffirm the need to have a solid plan in place in the event of any natural disaster. Westlake has held several Brown Bag learning events on the topic of emergency preparedness and will continue to make preparedness a priority.
