Westlake’s Scan/IMD Department recently visited Clark College in Vancouver, WA for a class presentation. Jerry Dawson, a Clack College alumnus, and Bob Blair, Senior Project Manager, shared with students the many applications and benefits of 3D laser scanning technology. Examples of Westlake projects, including the Oregon Zoo, Oregon Convention Center, TriMet/MAX Pedestrian Crossings, and U.S. Coast Guard vessels, allowed students to conceptualize how scanning technology can be applied to real-world scenarios outside of the classroom setting.
The classroom was filled with first year land surveying and second year civil engineering students, with little to no knowledge on the subject. Students learned that scanning offers significant benefits to all involved, including architects, engineers, and designers and is especially useful for speed of data collection, reduction of operational down-time, and improved design team sequencing.
Raffle tickets were handed out to students and the winners were very excited to receive Westlake hard hats.
I consider Westlake personnel to have a high level of integrity as well as being accurate, conscientious and principled in their work. In my opinion, Westlake is a very accomplished and competent surveying firm, and I have no hesitation in recommending them for public agency surveying services.”
