Response to Coronavirus

We remain committed to client service

As we continue to monitor the on-going health situation and guidance from the CDC, federal, state and local officials, Westlake is working as a team using various resources to continue to meet the needs of our clients, staff, and community. Our central precept at Westlake is ‘begin with the end in mind.’ As such, we are focusing on the successful outcome of each project our clients have entrusted to us. The Westlake team will continue to work together to meet the needs of their clients and their respective projects.

We understand some public agencies are temporarily closing, suspending, or reducing hours for construction permitting and development applications. Additionally, many AEC consultants, including Westlake, are allowing employees flexibility to work remotely to comply with CDC guidelines. Please be aware these changes may result in delayed responses and have an impact on processing times.

Prioritizing the health and safety of our team

A core value at Westlake is ‘we take care of each other.’ With this in mind, we have implemented all possible safety measures to protect our staff, following the recommendations from the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

  • We are mandating that any employee who isn’t feeling well to remain at home.
  • In our office, we are disinfecting communal surfaces and common touch points every two hours. Hand sanitizer and cleaning products are being offered to employees for use in their personal work areas.
  • Survey crew will travel to job-site in separate vehicles in order to maintain correct social distancing measures. Vehicle interiors and survey equipment are being sanitized throughout the day.
  • Onsite team meetings will not be allowed, social distancing will be practiced at all times, and crew chiefs will conduct regular safety checks at job-sites.
  • All travel and in person meetings have been canceled. We are utilizing web-based meeting tools, video or phone conferencing instead.
  • We are continuing to evaluate our network, upgrading software as needed, and working with staff to ensure they have all they need while teleworking.
  • Our leadership continues to monitor this fast-changing situation and communicate regularly with all staff.

Continuing business as usual while working remotely

As a civil engineering, land surveying, and land use planning firm, we provide services to support the construction, maintenance, and preservation of vital public infrastructure such as stormwater and sewer utilities, transportation networks, and built environment substructure.

We are continuing to work together as a team, providing essential service to the community, while adhering to all social distancing and health/safety measures outlined in Gov. Kate Brown’s Executive Order issued on March 23.

  • We are facilitating telework and work-at-home options for employees, to the maximum extent possible.
  • We have designated an employee to establish, implement, and enforce social distancing policies and protocols, consistent with guidance from the Oregon Health Authority.

We are grateful for your flexibility and understanding. While the next few weeks will be a challenge, we know our group is capable and resilient. We believe we will emerge from this with renewed strength and commitment to our mission.
