Volunteering to Help End Hunger

We had a great time volunteering at the Oregon Food Bank in Beaverton on March 11. Approximately 20 volunteers, seven of which were WCI employees, spent the morning unpacking nearly 5,700 pounds of potatoes and repacking them into smaller bags. Amstad Produce in Sherwood generously donated the spuds which will end up providing over 4,700 meals to people in need in Washington County. With the help of great staff and upbeat music, each volunteer packed over 215 meals. We had fun, worked together as a team, made new friends, and left feeling like we had made a difference.

We are always impressed with how well organized and inclusive their program is for volunteers of all ages and backgrounds. The Oregon Food Bank’s mission is simple – to end hunger and its root causes. Food is donated by farmers, manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, individuals and government sources. The produce is then sorted and distributed throughout a network of food banks, partner agencies, and community programs across Oregon and Clark County, Washington.

As a long-time supporter of the Oregon Food Bank, we are proud to align with such a great organization and are committed to supporting their needs in the weeks, months, and years to come.
