The ideal candidate will offer:

• A minimum of 4 years surveying experience with topographic mapping, boundary resolution, subdivision platting, Records of Survey, and heavy construction projects;
• Experience surveying for site development (residential, retail, commercial, industrial), transportation, and utilities;
• Skills including research for maps and deeds, ALTA/NSPS surveys, ROW surveys, design surveys, land development, topographic surveys, platting, and construction staking;
• Knowledge of principles of boundary control, map preparation, and land surveying techniques;
• Knowledge of Oregon laws and regulations related to land surveying;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil, GPS (Trimble Business Center, Trimble Access field software, Trimble R8 GNSS equipment) and CORS network;
• Proficiently with cadastral section breakdown calculations, and with AutoCAD Civil 3D;
• Strong organizational and writing skills, as well as project management skills;
• Ability to manage and coordinate survey technicians and field personnel work activities;
• Ability to take on responsibilities of CAD drafting, calculations, estimating, proposal preparation, and budgeting tasks;
• Good communication and interpersonal skills including willingness to network with clients and survey colleagues;
• Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
• A high level of production ability, along with a strong work ethic and sense of professional integrity;
• A 4-year or 2-year degree/certification in Geomatics/Land Surveying, Geography, or related/relevant field;
• A current Professional Land Surveying License is required (Oregon preferred/ability to obtain Oregon license).

Typical Responsibilities include:

• Using AutoCAD Civil 3D, prepares a variety of survey documents including boundary surveys, Records of Survey, exhibits, subdivision plats, and topographic maps (including ground models/property features);
• Reduces field data using Trimble Business Center and imports data/exports data for field work through AutoCAD Civil 3D;
• Performs office calculations;
• Prepares legal descriptions of real property;
• Directs survey field crew work and performs field work (as needed);
• Supports field crew as needed for monumentation and/or construction staking.

We are currently seeking a Senior Civil Project Manager who is ready to move on to a Department Management position to lead and exciting and accomplished group of Civil Engineers.

**This position includes a Signing Bonus after joining the company.

This position requires experience managing project teams to plan and prepare construction documents for general civil projects in accordance with both local (city and county) standards and guidelines. Activities require coordinating civil design with land use planning and surveying components. Position requires technical design background in design of streets, sanitary sewer, water and storm drain and current water quality requirements. In addition, management of the civil department requires a dynamic person for networking and developing and sustaining clientele for the firm and overseeing financial aspects of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing, coordinating, planning and administering small- to medium-size site civil projects
• Coordination and communication with firm Principals to help guide and grow the firm
• Manage and mentor civil design staff, helping them to set and meet personal and professional goals
• Ensuring integrity and completeness of all civil designs with strong QA/QC procedures
• Establishing and maintaining  client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
• Marketing, writing proposals, estimating work, maintaining, and developing key client relationship
• Participation in professional organizations and industry functions
• Training and mentoring civil engineering staff new to the profession
• Scheduling of staff to meet deliverable deadlines

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university
• OR PE required; licenses in other states a plus
• 7-10 years engineering experience with a background in site civil design, including a combination of roadway, traffic, storm water, irrigation design and utility relocations
• Solid understanding of civil design and construction standards, and environmental conditions / constraints
• A proven history of meeting project deadlines and budgets
• Demonstrated skills developing relationships with municipal, county and state agencies in support of site civil projects
• Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, hydrology modeling and MS software applications (including MS Project)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, staff, and management
• Experience with project estimating labor allocations and cost accounting methods for project management

• Proficiency in performing calculations using construction plans and/or CAD design drawings;
• Proficiency in checking calculations and field data in CAD drawings;
• Experience preparing cost estimates, construction staking scopes, and proposals for bidding purposes;
• Proficiency with AutoCAD/Civil 3D;
• Ability to manage and coordinate survey technicians and field personnel work activities;
• Strong organizational skills;
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and writing skills;
• An LSIT is required; a current Oregon Professional Land Surveying License is preferred;
• A college degree is preferable.

• Estimating and budgeting work-hours for survey projects, review monthly job cost report for invoicing and project management;

• Must have valid Oregon driver's license, and be willing to travel occasionally;

• PLS is preferred.

What can you expect as a Westlake Intern?

Students will join our Civil Engineering Department for a minimum 10-week professional immersion program. The program is divided into a 4-week training and enrichment phase, followed by a 6-week practical phase. You will be an integral part of our team, contributing to our success on varied and exciting projects.

Phase 1 - Training and Enrichment

Interns will experience curated programming including direct training experiences with individual staff members, mentorship from senior staff, cross-training with our Land Use and Survey teams, as well as other customized learning opportunities. This phase provides an overview of the site development process, construction plan production, and commonly used industry software. You will learn hone your AutoCAD Civil3D, HydroCAD, and Bluebeam Studio skills.

Phase 2 - Practical

Participating in direct work experience, you will be guided through the key tasks that a new engineer would be expected to take on. You will gain realistic work experience and advance your skills beyond theoretical training.

You would make a great Westlake Intern if you:

• Are currently enrolled in a BSCE program
• Have completed your Junior year prior to internship start date
• Are available for at least 10 full weeks to work in-person at our Tigard, Oregon headquarters
• Demonstrate exceptional organizational and communication skills
• Possess a positive attitude and excitement for digging in and learning
