Westlake provided civil engineering services to support construction of nearly 60 turbines and 15 miles of access roads for the Hidalgo Wind Farm in southeastern Texas. The engineering team’s experience with wind project development in remote areas and flat terrain were crucial for success.
Westlake worked with the Project Manager, the turbine supplier, and transportation firms to develop the design criteria for the main components of the project, including delivery vehicle requirements, the public road/transportation plan evaluation effort, pad grading, maximum slopes, radius, and other design parameters. We addressed the full scope of civil engineering services which focused on transportation planning, on-site private access road design, public road assessment relative to the delivery vehicle design criteria, design of a laydown yard and turbine grading plans.
Services included base mapping; transportation planning; turbine, private road, and U/G and O/H electric route micrositing; and stakeholder meeting participation.
Westlake met our needs 100%. They are great partners.”
