Standing Firm Against Injustice

At Westlake, our intention is to foster an atmosphere where each person feels respected and valued – where our actions are guided by empathy, understanding, and the desire for positive change. We recognize in order to bring about real change, we must work together and actively seek ways to foster equality and fairness in our firm and in the AEC (architecture, engineering, construction) industry.

In light of recent events, we reminded staff of our Company Standards statement which was developed over 30 years ago. We felt it was appropriate to highlight its first tenet, and to make it clear Westlake has and always will stand firm against racism, intolerance, injustice and violence.

At Westlake:

  • We take care of each other. We work side-by-side to support and help each other whenever and wherever we can.
  • We will not draw lines – no one individual is more important than another.
  • We need our neighbors to be complete, to be whole, to be successful, and most of all to be happy.
  • We care and are thankful for these relationships.

We share this letter, written by Linfield University President Miles Davis and published in the Portland Business Journal, as a further resource for understanding as we work toward a better future for all.

We believe that together, we have the ability to make a real and lasting change. Westlake Consultants is committed to being part of the solution.
