In late May Westlake’s Bernard Smith, PE, PLS, attended the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) WINDPOWER 2017 Conference & Exhibition with Portland Development Commission (PDC) and other service providers as part of the “Pacific Northwest Wind Team.”

This year’s conference took place at the Anaheim Convention Center in California. Westlake’s booth was part of the PDC clean energy coalition along with several other companies in attendance.

The conference dovetailed perfectly with other highlights of Bernard’s schedule this spring and summer, including trips across the Great Plains and Midwest to conduct site visits to wind farms where we are providing civil engineering services such as development of a transportation plan for turbine transport, storm drainage management, and site design.

The conference was a great success for Westlake, as we were able to continue to expand our knowledge on the latest wind energy technologies and make contacts with our PDC group. We look forward to the opportunity to attend another WINDPOWER conference next year!
