The camel, <em>Megatylopus<\/em>, lived 7 million years ago, stood 12-14 feet tall, and functioned much like a giraffe.<\/p>\n<p>This is the second specimen found at this South-Central Oregon site. It took two months to completely excavate and prepare the specimen for transportation to the University&#8217;s Geology Museum. The excavation was led by Dr. James Martin, professor in the School of Geosciences at the University of Louisiana.<\/p>\n<p>Westlake is proud to have provided 3D laser scanning for such a fascinating excavation project.
