Westlake had a blast participating in the 12th<\/sup> Annual Kickball Without Borders fundraiser benefiting Engineers Without Borders (EWB)<\/a> on August 13, 2022. The charity event allows coworkers to get together to play kickball and network with other A\/E\/C firms throughout the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fourteen teams signed up to compete in the 2022 tournament. Teams are able to purchase bunts, “do-over” plays, and can “bribe” referees to get calls reversed – all in good fun and to raise money for a great cause! The event also includes food and beverages, the beer wagon (pulled by a volunteer wearing fairy wings and a tutu), and a variety of raffle prizes donated by local businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Westlake partnered with geotechnical engineering firm GRI<\/strong><\/a> to form \u201cKick Rocks\u201d and was excited to win 2 of 3 games. Team Captain Daniel Bailey is looking forward to participating again and says \u201cI really like EWB\u2019s mission to build a better world through engineering projects that meet basic human needs. On top of that, I also want to win.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the contributions of all the sponsors and day-of activities and “bribes”, EWB-Portland was able to raise over $16,000. <\/strong>Proceeds raised will support current EWB-Portland projects in Ecuador<\/a> and Rwanda<\/a>. Westlake Consultants is proud to support EWB!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
